Hormone Replacement for Women

As women age, their hormone levels decline and the ovaries gradually make less estrogen and testosterone. Menopause in women is when menses stop and the ovaries are no longer functioning (no hormone production). Peri-menopause is when hormone levels fluctuate and women can experience the above before and after cessation of menses. The average age of menopause for women is 51 years of age. Studies however have shown that women in their later 30s start a decline in testosterone production by their ovaries and in their later 40s have a decline in estrogen production. Menopause is individual and the symptoms women feel are very different. When these symptoms affect the way women think (cognition), interact with others, affect sleep and intimacy Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) must be considered. There are many forms of replacement (synthetic or bioidentical) and no one size fits all. We strive to help you make the best decision about what is best for you given your symptoms and needs to help you keep your vitality.

What are Pellet Implants?

Hormone implants are small narrow cylinders (about the size of a grain of rice) that come in various doses of estrogen and testosterone that can be inserted under the skin to release these hormones reliably and slowly over time, mimicking your body’s own system of hormone delivery. The implants are placed very easily in the upper buttock/hip area under local anesthesia and can be done in the office with minimal recovery time. It takes 2 weeks to feel a significant benefit but effects typically last 3-5 months, depending on your body’s own metabolism.

What is the Safety of Pellets?

Pellets are not new forms of HRT but have actually been around for 80+ years. These pellets are engineering wonders, each designed and manufactured for consistency in drug composition, potency, and predictable delivery. Lots are tested and retested to ensure sterility and adherence to FDA, DEA, and cGMP regulation. The dosage of your pellets is based on lab results, medical history, and reports of symptoms.
